AALIYAH 『ONE IN A MILLION』
もうすぐ、8月25日で彼女が亡くなって5年になるんですね。そうですか。あまりにも突然だったよなぁ。知らない方のために・・・2001年人気絶頂時に飛行機事故で22歳という若さでこの世を去った歌姫です。音楽界のみならず映画界からも熱視線が注がれたAALIYAH（アリーヤ 1979-2001）、本名Aaliyah Dana Haughton。彼女の残した3作の中で一番気に入っている1枚。1996年彼女が17歳の時にリリースした2nd『ワン・イン・ア・ミリオン』、絶品R&Bです。
この艶やかさと滑らかさと繊細さで17歳かい！と。1stは15の時にR・ケリープロデュースですからね。この2ndは、ここで名を挙げたといっても過言じゃないティンバランドとミッシー・エリオット（彼らのソロはまたいずれ^^;）をプロデューサーに迎えた刺激的過ぎない刺激が心地良い作品。

何かで読んだのですが、宇多田ヒカルがR＆Bにハマったのはアリーヤを聴いたのがキッカケなのだそうですね。ヒッキーも密かに好きな（デビュー時からのミーハー）私としては、うれしい限りです。
ティンバランドとミッシー・エリオットのコンビが本当に良い仕事をしているんです。彼女の柔らかく耳馴染みの良い声色を活かした、かっ飛び過ぎない程度のバウンシーなトラック。デリケートな生音も活きてます。世紀末付近に特に流行ったチキチキ・シンコペーション・ビートの片鱗もありますが、それほどじゃありません。そこが良かったんだなぁ。
亡くなったって聴いた時は「んなバカな！」っていう感じでしたね。自らの名を冠した3rdアルバム『AALIYAH』がリリースされ、シングル・カットもヘヴィーローテーション中だった気がします。惜しい、惜し過ぎる。生きていてもまだ余裕で20代。
でも亡くなってしまったものはしょうがない。私に出来るのは彼女の残してくれた音楽を十分に楽しむこと、そして少しでも多くの人に良い音楽を伝えることだけであります。ありがとね、アリーヤ。

I Gotcha' Back（#11）、Never Givin' Up（#12）、
One I Gave My Heart To（#16）が、特に好きです。
最近になって、アリーヤの未発表曲の音源を入手しましたが、あまりしっくりこなかった・・・。
やっぱり、「One In A Milion」とその前作の「Age Ain't Nothing But A Number」の方が良いですね。
あと、”ロープライス Y 80 ”って・・・
まるで、一発屋歌手のＣＤみたいな値段が付けられてるのは、腹が立ちますね。
